What We Do

IEP Advisory offers services to education providers who are CRICOS-registered or seeking CRICOS registration. Our services will be of particular interest to education providers who do not have specialist ESOS knowledge within their organisation and are seeking external advice or training to meet their provider compliance obligations. 

Clients of IEP Advisory will include, but are not limited to – Institutes of Higher Education, University Colleges, Australian Universities and Vocational Education Training Providers.

CRICOS Registration and Renewal

Are you planning to deliver courses to international students and don’t know where to start? The first step is to apply to be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) through the relevant ESOS Agency.

IEP can assist education providers in preparing their higher education application for CRICOS Initial Registration. Key to this application is the preparation of documentary evidence that demonstrates to TEQSA how you meet, or will meet, all requirements of the ESOS Act 2000; Standards of the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018; and any other relevant legislation within the ESOS framework.

IEP can assist education providers in preparing their vocational education and training application for CRICOS Initial Registration. Key to this application is the preparation of documentary evidence that demonstrates to ASQA how you will deliver quality training and assessment and meet, or will meet, all requirements of the ESOS Act 2000; Standards of the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018; any other relevant legislation within the ESOS framework; and VET Quality Framework.

 

Are you already CRICOS-registered and need to renew your registration? IEP can assist education providers in preparing their application to renew their CRICOS registration. IEP will assist with the preparation of documentary evidence that demonstrates your provider compliance with all requirements under the ESOS Framework, in particular the Standards of the National Code, and as listed in the Confirmed Table of Evidence for CRICOS Renewal of Registration for higher education providers and Application to renew ESOS registration for vocational education and training providers.

Compliance Mapping of International Student Journey

Is your international students journey compliant with your ESOS obligations? IEP can map the student journey, starting with information provision to help students make an informed choice; issuing an offer letter; providing pre-departure and orientation; through to enrolment and assisting students meet their student visa obligations.

IEP will map the journey against the ESOS framework and identify if your provider work practices have met or exceeded your obligations or failed to meet minimum standards. This will include feedback from your international students. IEP will provide recommendations on how the international student journey can be improved to deliver best practice. If required, IEP will assist in implementing the best practice recommendations.

ESOS Advisory

Don’t have specialist ESOS knowledge within your institution? IEP can assist with providing expert advice. We offer ad hoc or ongoing services. This may include advice on a specific compliance issue or administering/supporting your ESOS governance framework.

ESOS External Review

Standard 11.4 of the National Code requires registered providers who are self-accrediting to undertake an independent external audit during the period of CRICOS registration, within 18 months prior to renewal of the registration.

IEP will identify the documentary evidence required for the audit and work with you to collect this evidence. It could be as simple as finding information that is publicly accessible; interviewing key staff within your institution; or requesting further information as required.

IEP will review your current suite of policy and procedures to ensure they are compliant and check your PRISMS and SMS records to ensure your provider practices align with documented policies and procedures.

A final report will identify if you have met or exceeded your obligations or failed to meet minimum standards. IEP will make recommendations on corrective actions you need to undertake to ensure you are meeting your compliance obligations.

ESOS Health Check

How are you tracking against your ESOS obligations? IEP can undertake a full ESOS compliance health check or focus on specific standards. IEP will identify the documentary evidence required and work with you to collect this evidence. This will include a review of information that is publicly accessible, interviewing key staff within your institution and collating information as required.

IEP will review your current suite of policy and procedures to ensure they are compliant and check your PRISMS and SMS records to ensure your provider practices align with documented policies and procedures.

A final report will identify if you have met or exceeded your obligations or failed to meet minimum standards. IEP will make recommendations on what you need to do to ensure you are meeting your provider compliance obligations. If required, we will assist in implementing these recommendations.

An ESOS health check is a must before undertaking an external audit and good practice to undertake during periods of significant change. Don’t’ wait until it’s too late.

*IEP cannot complete your external audit if we have been engaged to complete an ESOS health check.

Policy and Procedure Development & Review

Is your suite of provider policies and procedures contemporary and compliant? IEP can review and/or develop policy and procedures to ensure they comply with your provider compliance obligations under the ESOS Framework. 

Guiding policies and procedures that demonstrate compliance with the ESOS framework are a regulatory expectation. IEP are experts in both developing and reviewing your policy and procedure suite, using legislative requirements and our comprehensive knowledge of the TEQSA Good Practice Notes; TEQSA Guidance Notes and VET Quality Framework to frame our work.

Industry Training

Are all of your provider staff aware of their obligations under the ESOS Framework?

Standard 6.7 of the National Code mandates that “The registered provider must ensure its staff members who interact directly with overseas students are aware of the registered provider’s obligations under the ESOS framework and the potential implications for overseas students arising from the exercise of these obligations.”  IEP provides face-to-face and online training on the ESOS framework to all stakeholders. These sessions can be generic in providing an overview of the framework or tailored to meet your specific provider needs.
